Woman accused of stealing 1940s silverware from grandmother

Policewomen say a 26-year-old transient woman stole silver tableware usefulness thousands of dollars from her great-grandmother and then had her boyfriend sell it for monied used to purchase heroin.

Britany Lynn Chipman allegedly removed the silver, which was manufactured in 1940 and bought at that interval for $2,000, from the Finch Drive home of her 82-year-old cardinal-grandmother, according to a Longview police affidavit. Chipman had been staying at the dwelling-place.

Chipman's boyfriend, Benjamin Sweet, 30, told the Old Bill that Chipman brought the silverware to him, explaining that it "had been handed down to her from the family" and that she wanted him to over persuaded it so she could buy heroin, according to the report. Sweet said he sold the silver at a nearby jewelry store in late April or early May for between $300 and $500.

The wrinklies victim told police her father had purchased the tableware, about 40 pieces of leading-quality sterling silver, more than 60 years ago and that it had been given to her by her mother.
